Actions
When creating the account templates, you will be prompted to set a budget , duration as well as thresholds that can trigger an action when a limit is reached. These actions determine the behavior of the lease once a budget or duration threshold is reached, let's look at this in more detail.
In this example you can see the Budget (1) is $100 , the thresholds (2) will trigger at $50, $75 and $100 and the actions (3) that will be taken at each of the thresholds will be Send Alert, Lock Account and Wipe Account
Here are the different actions that can be triggered when a threshold is reached.
Action | Description |
---|---|
Send Alert |
An alert is sent to the user notifying them that the budget or duration threshold has been reached. |
Lock account |
The account is set to the Locked state. In this state, the user no longer has access to the account (they are locked out), but the account continues to exist and Administrators and Managers can still access the account for evaluation and review purposes. |
Wipe account |
The clean-up process will start on the account. Note that this action is only available when a maximum budget or duration is set. |
Warning: In the event of using the Lock Account action, the account when locked, continues to consume resources and will continue to bill your AWS Account. Lock Account does not stop any resources or billing.
In the following this section, we’ll explore in more detail how to set these thresholds and why they are important to your Sandbox Studio environment by looking at different use cases.
